About me
Hunaid Vohra MB BS MRCS MD FRCS (CTh) FETCS PhD:
Hunaid's journey in Cardiac Surgery went through working in hospitals in London (Harefield) and Southampton, UK. Having been conferred the status of Fellow both by the British as well as the European Cardiac Surgical Boards, he was awarded the prestigious Ethicon Scholarship by the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, UK, to sub-specialise in mitral and aortic valve repair with Professor Gebrine ElKhoury at Saint-Luc University Hosiptal (Brussels) followed by Minimally Invasive Mitral Repair with Professor Hugo Vanermen at OLV clinic (Aalst, Belgium). On his return to UK, he completed another sub-speciality fellowship in minimally invasive aortic valve surgery and TAVI at the St Thomas Hospital, London. His love of the practical aspects of surgery is matched by an enthusiasm for research. He was awarded the BUPA Cardiac Research Fellowship where his thesis looked at the mechanism of cell death after a heart attack. I maintain an active involvement in research through my Honorary SEnior Lecturer position at the University of Bristol. I am faculty on various international training courses and have held the position of Assictae Editor of the valve section of ICVTS/EJCTS journal. He is the lead author on 2 books on minimally invasive valve surgery.
