About me
I am a consultant bariatric and upper gastrointestinal surgeon. I undertook my training in general and upper gastrointestinal surgery in Sheffield, Manchester and Preston. After completing my training, I was appointed to the prestigious Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at McGill University in Montreal, Canada (one of the first and pioneering Bariatric programmes in North America, which began bariatric surgery in 1962).
I also have a specific interest in the investigations and treatment of reflux diseases (GORD) in addition to treatment of abdominal wall hernia and gallbladder issues.
I have a passion for the treatment of obesity and type 2 Diabetes. I have experience in the whole range of effective Bariatric and metabolic procedures (gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and duodenal switch) in addition to revisional surgery.
To date, I have performed more than 800 bariatric operations in Canada and in the UK, in addition to more than 1000 gall bladder operations.
I have a special interest in medical education and am involved in teaching and training medical students and junior doctors.
