About me

Vicky Neagen MBACP (Accred) Independent Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Systemic Practitioner
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step…….
My journey started at Victoria Counselling Services in 2003 and I completed my Counselling training there in 2008. I gained my accredited status with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in 2011.
I have worked therapeutically with adults and young people at Basildon MIND, the Atrium Clinic and Palmer’s College. I have experience preparing and facilitating various therapy groups; tutorials on mental health issues for students, teachers and support staff; mediation and 1:1 brief and long term therapy. I am an appointed safe guarding officer and part of a team who develop crisis intervention for suicide and other trauma related events.
I work closely with external agencies, social services, charities, GP’s – to ensure a safe network is in place to support the therapy relationship. I also value family input if it is safe and agreeable to all involved.
I am also a qualified Hatha Yoga Teacher. Hatha yoga uses the breath to connect mind and body helping to bring balance between our rational and intuitive thinking, logic and creativity, our action and passiveness. Yoga breathing practices (Pranyama) support and calm the nervous system, helping the body to recover from mental and emotional distress. The Yogic principles of Ahimsa (Non Harm to self or others, in thought or action) and Satya (Truthfulness – to listen to our body and honour what it is telling us) underpin my therapeutic work.
Our journey into therapy sometimes feels like that of a thousand miles and I am privileged to walk alongside any person who decides to take their first step.
