Dr Clare Conway is a London-based Consultant Clinical Psychologist and ISST Advanced Certified Schema Therapist and Supervisor. She is a registered member of the HCPC - a statutory regulator of healthcare professionals in the UK and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, with over 15 years experience to Consultant level across NHS and private settings.

Dr Conway’s clinical expertise is in the application of Schema Therapy in mood disorders, traumatic stress, and intimate and non-intimate relationship difficulties. She is also experienced in working with the psychological challenges facing individuals within high-pressured, competitive, creative and entrepreneurial roles. This includes an expertise in the treatment of chronic affective disorders, such as recurrent depression, cyclothymia, and bipolar affective disorder, and the treatment of addictive and self defeating behaviours. She also has a broader clinical interest in healthy and unhealthy forms of narcissism, including overcompensatory coping following a narcissistic wound.

If you have tried other therapy approaches before and felt that these approaches didn’t quite reach the real issues, you may be keen to work at a deeper attachment level. Schema therapy is effective in resolving unmet developmental needs and in reducing self-defeating patterns of relating and behaving which may be maintaining symptoms and sabotaging relationship health.

Working creatively with an explorative style, Dr Conway will work together with you to reinvigorate your curiosity in life and in the meaning and needs your symptoms may be communicating. Dr Conway will also be real with you. She understands the more destructive side to being human and believes that texture and imperfection are inherent in living fully.

As Dr Conway is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), she is able to integrate EMDR with schema therapy to enhance treatment outcomes. This is particularly helpful where traumatic earlier experiences are intruding in your present relationships and choices.
