About me
Dr Stale Rygh is a Clinical Psychologist with many years experience from the NHS and private practise, covering different roles, including therapist, supervisor, mentor, manager and trainer. As a therapist, Dr Rygh primarily works with adult and adolescent clients with a range of mental health difficulties. Dr Rygh specialises in relational models of therapy, such as Compassion Focused Therapy, where the focus is on helping people develop healthy ways of relating to themselves and others. A core element of this work is developing self compassion, which can be a solid buffer against excessive self blame and criticism, and enable people to respond to past and current challenges in a more considerate and helpful way. Research now clearly demonstrates thats self compassion can help people feel and function better.
Dr Rygh has extensive training in treatment models (including CBT and EMDR) aimed at helping people recover from traumatic life events from adverse child hood events to accidents or losses in adulthood.
Dr Rygh can draw on a wide range of evidence based therapeutic approaches and will tailor the therapy to the specific needs of the person.
