About me
Tom Holland is a consultant gynaecologist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust specialising in early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology, gynaecological ultrasound, minimal access surgery and complex benign gynaecology.
He received preclinical medical training at Cambridge University and clinical training at Guy's and St Thomas' qualifying in 2001. He completed his postgraduate training in London working in several teaching hospitals including King's College; Guy's and St Thomas' and University College Hospital. During his training he undertook a two year research fellowship investigating the role of gynaecological ultrasound in the management of women with endometriosis. The principle conclusion drawn from this research is that ultrasound can be used to assess the severity of endometriosis and guide treatment decisions. He was awarded a research degree (MD) in 2013, going on to complete his general training and advanced laparoscopic surgery training at University College Hospital.
Mr Holland is highly skilled at performing early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound. One of his key interests is the diagnosis of endometriosis by ultrasound and he is regularly invited to lecture on this topic at national and international conferences. He is also highly skilled in performing open and minimally invasive surgery for complex benign gynaecological conditions including endometriosis, fibroids, benign ovarian cysts and a range of other gynaecological conditions.
