About me
Dr Kathryn Rocha MAHons DClinPsych
Kathryn is an experienced (15 years) Chartered Clinical Psychologist who specialises in working with children, young people and their families. Kathryn completed her undergraduate Psychology degree in Edinburgh and then went on to complete her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Newcastle. She has previously worked within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) setting assessing supporting families with emotional, relational and neurological difficulties. Since 2010 she has worked as an NHS Clinical Psychologist bringing mental health services for children to schools, both Primary and Secondary. This involves working directly with families, groups of children and supporting teachers both with individual pupils and more general mental health training.
Kathryn has a particular interest in parenting and working with parents to help them understand and manage children’s behaviours and emotions in ways that benefit the whole family. Kathryn mainly uses Systemic and Cognitive Behavioural approaches with families, and always works collaboratively alongside her clients. She has run and had specialist training in Webster Stratton Parenting Groups for parents of children ages 3 - 10 years. Kathryn is also developing her mindfulness practice and is trained to deliver the Paws B curriculum to Primary School age children.
