About me
Hi I'm Sharon,
I have been seeing clients for 14yrs in a variety of settings including the voluntary, public and private sectors. I currently work part time for the NHS and freelance for various companies/charities. Previous work history has included 10yrs as a therapist with Telford Mind, 3yrs with Women's Aid and 2yrs with Sign Health using BSL. I managed the counselling and psychotherapy service which had a team of 12 counsellors for Telford Mind for approx. two years prior to joining the NHS.
My diploma primarily focused on three theoretical perspectives; Person Centred, CBT and TA. I then undertook an advanced certificate in Mental Health and Deafness at The University of Birmingham. I am committed to CPD and more recently have trained in DIT (dynamic interpersonal therapy), completed a diploma in trauma and neuroscience and have trained in IPT (Interpersonal Psychotherapy).
I have attended a variety of short training courses/workshops including; Brief Solution Focus Therapy; Drama Therapy; Play Therapy; Working with Shame; Introduction to Gestalt. Whilst having a range of theoretical perspectives to draw upon I remain Person Centred at my core. Using other techniques dependant on the client and the issues that they present with.
For the last 12 years I have also had a small private practice working as an integrative practitioner, with people with varying issues and mental health concerns.
I am happy to see clients at my own practice and will consider travelling where/when appropriate to see clients.
I look forward to hearing from you
