About me

Dr. Banerjee qualified in 1992 and completed his MD degree in 1996. He did his basic medical training in the North-West of England and higher training in Diabetes and Endocrinology in Wales and North-West of England. During his higher training, he completed his Ph.D. from Manchester University following a very prestigious grant from the British Heart Foundation.
Since completing his training in 2009, he has worked as a consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, Wirral University Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust and The Bolton Foundation NHS Trust, before moving to Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust in 2024. In 2020, he was selected for the coveted post of Clinical Champion of the Diabetes UK. He serves as a member of the Diabetes board of the Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire Strategic Clinical Network.
He is an Honorary Lecturer with Manchester University. He leads Endocrinology teaching at Edge Hill Medical school. Since 2009, he has taught trainees and Primary Care physicians, and nurses in topics related to Diabetes and Endocrinology.
He has led research projects, quality improvement projects, and published peer-reviewed articles in various journals of Diabetes and Endocrinology. He has also been invited to speak at conferences both within the UK and internationally, including India and Bahrain. He is an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Diabetes.
His hobbies include reading, cricket, traveling, and landscape photography.
