About me

Dr. Banerjee qualified in 1992 and completed his MD degree in 1996. He trained in Diabetes and Endocrinology in Wales and the North-West of England. During his postgraduate training, he completed his PhD at the University of Manchester, supported by a prestigious British Heart Foundation grant.
Since completing his training in 2009, he has worked as a consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, Wirral University Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust and The Bolton Foundation NHS Trust, before moving to Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust in 2024. In 2020, he was selected for the coveted Clinical Champion role at Diabetes UK. He serves on the Diabetes Oversight Group of the Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire Strategic Clinical Network, leads on Antenatal diabetes care, and is also a member of the Diabetes Technology Advisory group of the same.
He is a Senior Lecturer and Assessment Lead at Edge Hill University Medical School. He is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester. Since 2009, he has taught trainees, including primary Care physicians and nurses, on topics related to Diabetes and Endocrinology.
He has led research projects and quality improvement initiatives, and has published peer-reviewed articles in various journals related to diabetes and Endocrinology. He has also been invited to speak at conferences in the UK and internationally, including in India, Egypt and Bahrain. He is an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Diabetes.
His hobbies include reading, cricket, travelling, and landscape photography.
