About me

Dr. Banerjee qualified in 1992 and completed his MD degree in 1996. He did his training in Diabetes and Endocrinology in Wales and North-West of England. During his postgraduate training, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Manchester, following a prestigious grant from the British Heart Foundation.
Since completing his training in 2009, he has worked as a consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, Wirral University Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust and The Bolton Foundation NHS Trust, before moving to Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust in 2024. In 2020, he was selected for the coveted post of Clinical Champion of Diabetes UK. He serves as a member of the Diabetes Oversight Group of the Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire Strategic Clinical Network.
He is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He is the Assessment Lead at Edge Hill Medical School. Since 2009, he has taught trainees, including primary Care physicians and nurses, on topics related to Diabetes and Endocrinology.
He has led research projects and quality improvement initiatives, and has published peer-reviewed articles in various journals related to diabetes and Endocrinology. He has also been invited to speak at conferences both within the UK and internationally, including India and Bahrain. He is an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Diabetes.
His hobbies include reading, cricket, travelling, and landscape photography.
