About me
Dr Kirsten Kitson is a Counselling Psychologist who is chartered by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and holds full membership to the BPS division of Counselling Psychology. She holds full accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) who promote high quality CBT practice and has recently gained accreditation with the Tavistock who oversee the Couples Therapy for Depression training. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and holds a doctorate in Counselling Psychology.
Kirsten draws on a range of therapeutic approaches including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Couples Counselling for Depression, Solution Focused Therapy and Psychodynamic therapy; working from a relational stance. Kirsten has worked with adults and adolescents in a variety of settings including the NHS, HM Prison service and in the voluntary sector. This has involved the short, medium and long-term treatment of problems of varying severity. Kirsten has specialised in depression and anxiety disorders, substance misuse and eating disorders but also works with a wide range of presenting problems.
