Training and education
?

Dr Lown completed his undergraduate training at University College London Medical School in 2004. He undertook junior medical training at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Lewisham Hospital.

?

His specialist haematology training was at the Royal Marsden Hospital, St George's Hospital London, and University Hospital Southampton. Dr Lown also undertook a research MD in stem cell transplantation at University College London and the Anthony Nolan Research Institute.

Dr Lown is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (2007), and Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (2014).

Experience

Dr Lown took up his first consultant post in August 2015.

?

His NHS work in with Southampton lymphoma group, supervising inpatient and outpatient care of patients with both high-grade and low-grade lymphoma. The group is investigating numerous novel approaches to the treatment of lymphoma through a broad range of clinical trials, and is amongst the leading recruiters to clinical trials in lymphoma in the UK.

Dr Lown is clinical lead for autologous stem cell transplantation (transplantation using the patient's own stem cells) and developed the CAR-T cell service for lymphoma in Wessex.

Awarded one of two national places on the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) haemato-oncology clinical trials trainee scheme (2014 to 2016).

Press conference at American Society of Haematology (ASH) annual meeting 2014 for work on impact of ethnicity in stem cell donation.

The Southampton lymphoma group are investigating many novel approaches to managing lymphoma, with a broad portfolio of clinical trials covering all phases of clinical development.
