About me

I provide psychotherapy and counselling in North London.

You may be seeking therapy because of a crisis or distress in your life. Maybe this is because you are experiencing anxiety, depression, confusion or frustration. You may have had a bereavement, be living with illness, having relationship problems, facing difficulties at work, or have concerns about self-esteem and confidence, or perhaps it is to examine how it is you are living more generally.

I will support you in managing, and coping with, your feelings. I will work with you to look at the choices you can make, and the values and beliefs that underlie those choices. I will help you to examine and understand your thoughts and behaviours, and to look at the possibility of change.

My experience of providing psychotherapy and counselling over the last ten years is broad, and I have clinical experience: within the NHS; for mental health charities, such as MIND; supporting people with a neurological condition called dystonia at The Dystonia Society charity; and for Employee Assistance Programs; as well as within my own private practice.

I have worked with a number of issues that people commonly bring to therapy including: anxiety; depression; bereavement; sexual identity; lifestyle choices; work-related issues; searching for meaning or a sense of purpose in life; compulsive or addictive behaviour. I also have experience of having worked with trauma; mental and physical abuse; and marital and relationship issues.

My approach has been informed by having worked with a number of therapeutic ideas I have encountered in both my training as a psychotherapist and through my clinical experience. This includes experience of having worked: as an existential psychotherapist; with ideas from psychoanalysis/psychodynamic psychotherapy; and with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

Counselling and psychotherapy are terms that I tend to use interchangeably at times. However, they are sometimes differentiated by the amount of time spent in such a relationship, counselling tending to be shorter term and sometimes with certain objectives, rather than a longer term, exploratory psychotherapy.

I am registered with both the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I am a member of the Society for Existential Analysis. These professional bodies exist to ensure that psychotherapists work in the best interests of their clients.

I am also covered by Professional and Public Liability indemnity insurance.

Please find my contact details above. I look forward to hearing from you.
