About me

Dr Steven Mahan-Taylor is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with many years� experience in both the NHS and private sector. Throughout his NHS career, Dr Mahan-Taylor worked within specialist inpatient, outpatient, hospital, and community services. This provided an invaluable opportunity early on in his career to work with many different types of experiences with a varied client group. This enabled Dr Mahan-Taylor to begin to hone his craft of tailoring expert, evidence-based psychological therapy to his clients� unique needs, no matter what they needed support with. Dr Mahan-Taylor creates a therapy space for his clients that is professional, warm, and comforting. He has a proven ability to form genuine, authentic, therapeutic relationships with his clients, which is vital to bring about meaningful change for them.

Dr Mahan-Taylor began his career in private practice in Bristol before moving to London and joining one of the largest psychology clinics in the country in 2016. In time, Dr Mahan-Taylor was promoted to Senior Management within the clinic and became Operational Lead. In this role, Dr?Mahan-Taylor worked to support the effective delivery of clinical services to promote a positive experience for clients.? Through this role, Dr Mahan-Taylor became fully aware that therapy is about a client�s overall experience, from beginning to end. He works closely with clients to ensure that every step of the way, from booking an appointment to engaging with therapy, is as smooth and comforting as possible.

In 2024, Dr Mahan-Taylor founded London Bridge Therapy, a new clinic in the heart of the London Bridge area whose ethos is to offer personalised, bespoke psychological therapy. Bringing his years of experience from both the NHS and private sector, Dr Mahan-Taylor is skilled in delivering multiple models of evidence-based psychological therapy. He has expertise in delivering several specialist approaches, including Schema therapy, Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches. ?

Dr Mahan-Taylor is skilled at drawing upon elements of various types of therapy to ensure each client�s experience of psychological therapy is bespoke and tailored to their unique needs, hopes, abilities, and experiences to offer a bespoke treatment.? His clients never receive a one-size-fits-all approach.

Dr Mahan-Taylor is also skilled at offering couples� therapy to support clients to better understand themselves and improve their relationships.

Dr Mahan-Taylor specialises in adult mental health and has worked with clients of all ages with a wide range of emotional experiences, including relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, loneliness, bereavement, social anxiety, eating disorders, work-related stress, health anxiety, and substance misuse.

Throughout his career, Dr Mahan-Taylor has gained extensive experience working with clients with interpersonal difficulties. He has a special interest in long-term, complex presentations and in working with clients who have struggled with their experiences for many years without finding previous therapy helpful.
