About me
I qualified in medicine with an MB ChB from the University of Birmingham in 1981. I worked as a junior doctor in Birmingham and gained my MRCP(UK) diploma in medicine in 1984. I commenced training in radiology at Nottingham University Hospital in 1985 obtaining the FRCR diploma in 1989. I worked at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from 1990-91 as a Cook Interventional Fellow awarded by the Royal College of Radiologists.
I was appointed as a consultant radiologist in 1992 based at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham which is part of the Heartlands Hospital/Good Hope Hospital/Solihull Hospital group of hospitals and now part of the University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust. I was appointed as lead interventional radiologist and also became lead in head and neck and ENT imaging and neuroradiology in this arm of the trust. I withdrew from interventional radiology in 2013 to concentrate on leading in head and neck and neuroradiology including spinal imaging but continue with non-invasive vascular imaging.
