About me

Current NHS employment

I currently work part-time in North East London Foundation (NHS) Trust as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT) in the Long-Term Condition Psychology Service. In addition I work in the private sector and in both areas I offer a sensitive, confidential, non-judgemental and competent individual and couple psychological treatment drawing on my wide experience from different perspectives in CBT, EFT and other psychological approaches. This treatment is underpinned by an adherence to the standards of conduct, performance and ethics of British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Internationally Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused (ICEEFT) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

CBT and EFT Sessions
The CBT and/or EFT sessions usually last for approximately one hour. Generally, the first two sessions (for CBT) and three sessions (for EFT couples) are concerned with an assessment of the problems, the development of a shared (collaborative) understanding of how the problem(s) and how they are perpetuated (kept going). The number of sessions varies in accordance with the nature of the problem(s), however a rough guide would be 6-12.

My Approach
I am warm and very approachable, and this facilitates ease, relaxation and enable the development of an effective working relationship that is always essential for therapy. In my clinical practice I draw on my experiences from different approaches in CBT, Eye Moment Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and my EFT training.

Years of Experience
I have over 20 years experience as a CBT counsellor in drugs and alcohol dependence (alcoholism) where I worked both as a CBT counsellor and service manager.
