About me
Dr Finlay is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Barts Heart Centre. He is an acknowledged expert in managing atrial arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation, and is a recognised leader in catheter ablation and new technologies to help heart patients better. He is extremely safety conscious and has led the introduction of many safety concepts from aviation into his procedures to maximise safety and ensure the best outcomes for his patients. He qualified from Oxford University in Medicine in 2001. He was awarded his PhD in Cardiac Electrophysiology in 2014 from UCL, where he performed scientific research into how mental stress can worsen heart rhythm problems.
Outside of clinical work, his current academic pursuits concentrate on developing innovations for heart patients, and he is an inventor of several new patented technologies. He has raised over $6M funding over the last three years fundraising for university/hospital spin-out companies to bring these to patient benefit (Rhythm AI Ltd, Echopoint Medical Ltd and Epicardio Ltd).
