About me
Mr Simon Fisher is an experienced Consultant Upper GI and General Surgeon with specialist expertise in gallbladder, hepatobiliary and oesophagogastric conditions. He studied Medicine and Pharmacology at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, graduating in 1999, before completing his clinical training at University College London.
Following a PhD at the University of London, Mr Fisher began his surgical career in Cambridge and went on to complete seven years of Higher Surgical Specialist Training on the South West Rotation. This included a dedicated year at the Birmingham Liver Unit, where he gained extensive experience in liver and pancreas surgery, as well as liver transplantation. After achieving Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and joining the Specialist Register, he completed an additional fellowship at the renowned Liver Unit in Aintree, Liverpool, working under Professor Graeme Poston.
Mr Fisher is now a Consultant Upper GI and General Surgeon at New Cross Hospital, where he is currently establishing a regional centre for complex pancreatitis, gallbladder and bile duct disease. This is in addition to a large hernia repair practice and the regular provision of Interventional Endoscopy and Emergency Surgery. He is also the Regional Programme Director for surgical training.
At Nuffield Health Wolverhampton Hospital, he provides specialist care for patients with Upper GI, hepatobiliary and general surgical conditions, including gallbladder and gallstone disease, gastro oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and hernias. He offers both laparoscopic (keyhole) and open surgical approaches, tailoring treatment to each patient's needs
