About me
I am an Accredited member of the BACP and have been a qualified counsellor since 2008.
Coming into counselling can feel overwhelming, scary and often lonely. As a trained Person-Centred Counsellor, I believe my role in the counselling room is provide a safe space so clients feel able to explore their experiences without fear of judgement. I offer a therapeutic relationship that is warm, empathic and encourages people to tell their story in their own time and in their own unique way. I use my skills, experience and creativity to respond to the individual needs of my clients and work alongside them to help determine their own goals of counselling.
I have considerable experience delivering Brief Therapy in a GP and Occupational Health setting as well as supporting clients in long term counselling.
My work with children and young people is grounded in play therapy and creativity. Sometimes children can find it difficult to find the words to tell their story. I offer a variety of creative resources to encourage children to play out what is happening for them so they can better understand their thoughts, feelings, reactions and choices.
Alongside my private practice I am a manager with the NHS, supporting the delivery of services in the region to children and young people aged 0-25.
I am passionate about removing the stigma around mental health issues and use my experience as a facilitator and trainer to encourage my clients to learn more about their wellbeing and promote the concept of positive mental health that can be nurtured and developed on a daily basis.
