About me
I started my work as a Counsellor/ Therapist in 2005 and I qualified in 2007. I am currently a senior consultant for a treatment centre in South Kensington in London where I facilitate group therapy and see clients for individual and family sessions. I work in private practice at The Heath, Hampstead NW3 on Mondays and from South Kensington on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I am also able to work with clients online.
I have worked as a Counsellor/ Psychotherapist both in the UK and in South Africa at various well known treatment facilities and have over a fifteen years of experience working with various client groups including eating disorders, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, low self-worth, trauma, grief, learning disabilities and relational/ attachment issues. However, I have extensive experience of working with eating disorders and trauma and I am considered an expert within this field.
I use an integrative approach which means I use various therapeutic modalities in order best meet the needs of my clients. I fit therapeutic approaches to clients and not clients to therapeutic approaches. This is because I believe everyone is unique. Some of the approaches I use are Person centered therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, Systemic and Psychodynamic. My main purpose as a Counsellor is to provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their difficulties. I support clients to make links to their past and find new coping strategies for dealing with their problems in the present.
I became a Counsellor after seeking help for some of my own life difficulties. I believe that my personal experiences as well as professional experiences have shaped me into the Counsellor that I have become. I am very passionate about what I do and feel truly grateful to have been able to play a part in other people’s journeys.
