About me

Mr Murtuza Mookhtiar is a consultant ophthalmologist who also specialises in cataract and vitreoretinal surgery. He performs surgery for retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane as well as cataracts. He has a specialist interest in the medical and surgical treatment of diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration.

With a career spanning over 15 years, Mr Mookhtiar has plenty of experience and is currently the lead clinician for Surgical Retina at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. After graduating from the University of Bristol, he gained considerable experience in Ophthalmology training at numerous hospitals in the UK including working in Yorkshire whilst completing his specialist training in surgical retina. Mr Mookhtiar also undertook extra training in Ophthalmic Public Health at the University of Leeds, where he gained his Masters in Public Health.
