About me

Raju was honored with the prestigious Hunterian professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons England for his innovative and world class work in diabetic foot surgery. He is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex foot and ankle surgery at Kings College Hospital in London. His practice focuses on various aspects of foot and ankle care, including major trauma, sports foot and ankle medicine, diabetes foot care and is a lead in ankle arthroplasty and 3D technology utilisation.

Raju graduated from Guys, Kings & St Thomas's in London with a BSc in Immunology, where he wrote a thesis on the expression of infection and inflammatory markers. He received a bursary and a scholarship from Guys and St Thomas's Hospital to continue his research. He completed his basic surgical training on the Kings College Rotation and was appointed to the Cambridge higher surgical training program, finishing his training at the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital Stanmore. He trained under renowned foot and ankle surgeons in the UK, including several presidents of the British Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS).

He completed advanced fellowships in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery, ankle arthroplasty at the Nuffield Orthopedic Centre in Oxford, and specialized in limb reconstruction and diabetic foot care at the Wirral in Liverpool. He was awarded BOFAS and AO Trauma Travelling Fellowships to further enhance his skills in providing comprehensive foot and ankle care.

Raju holds a Diploma of Sports and Exercise Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and incorporates these skills into his patient care. He advocates for the use of Patient Related Outcome Measures in foot and ankle surgery and has presented his research results nationally.

He is a consultant at the renowned Kings Diabetic Foot Unit and a member of the Diabetic Foot Study Group and the International Diabetic Foot Care Group. He is actively involved in educating future doctors at Guy's, King's and St Thomas's Hospital Medical School and supervising trainees from the London Deanery.

Raju has represented his unit at national and international meetings and has been invited to lecture internationally. He has published 100 peer-reviewed articles and presented at over 100 national and international meetings, including those organized by the American and British Orthopedic Foot Ankle Society and the British Orthopedic Association. He has also contributed chapters to medical textbooks and is an invited speaker at BOFAS, RSM and Diabetes UK.
