About me
Mr. Ahluwalia is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery at Kings College Hospital, London. His practice focuses on all facets of foot and ankle care and is based around major trauma, elective/sports foot and ankle medicine and diabetic foot practice.
Raju graduated from Guys, Kings & St Thomas’s in London with a BSc in Immunology – writing a thesis on the expression of infection & inflammatory markers; winning a bursary and further Guys and St Thomas’s Hospital scholarship to continue his research.
He undertook basic surgical training on the Kings College Rotation and appointed to the Cambridge higher surgical training program, completing his training on the Chelsea and Westminster Rotation ending at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore. Ensuring he was trained by the doyens of foot and ankle surgery in the UK (Cambridge & London) including several presidents of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS).
Having undertaken advanced fellowships in arthroscopic & minimally invasive surgery, ankle arthroplasty at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford and specialising in limb reconstruction and diabetic foot practice at the Wirral, Liverpool, he was awarded BOFAS and AO Trauma Travelling Fellowships to complete his training to offer you a complete foot and ankle service.
Having undertaken the Diploma of Sports and Exercise Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh he incorporates these skills into his care for patients and advocates the use of Patient Related Outcome Measures in foot and ankle surgery and has presented results nationally.
Raju is one of the consultants at the internationally recognised Kings Diabetic Foot Unit and invited member of the Diabetic Foot Study Group and part of the International Diabetic Foot Care Group – a European group of surgeons and physicians working as an advisory group translating research to improve diabetic foot medicine through clinician and patient education.
He continues to be faculty and lecturer for a number of FRCS and Trauma Revision Courses & Symposia and part of the organisational team of the annual Kings Charcot Reconstruction Meeting, at the Oval. He is actively involved in training the next generation of doctor’s at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School and supervising trainees from the London Deanary.
He has represented his unit at national, & international meetings and been invited to lecture internationally. He is widely published in peer reviewed articles and presented at over 50 national & international meetings including American & British Orthopaedic Foot Ankle Society, British Orthopaedic Association and has written chapters for medical textbooks.
He has actively undertaken charity work orgainising sports days and played sport at university and is happily married living with his family in London.
