About me
It takes courage to consider talking to someone about a problem you are facing. If you choose to see me I will offer you a professional yet relaxed face to face or online experience.
1 in 4 of us will experience anxiety or depression at some point in our lives. If this is you then you are not alone. I would love to support you by offering a practical approach. This will include seeking to understand the problem you are facing and then making a clear plan of how we will work together. Therapy for anxiety for example may include learning new skills such as relaxation or breathing exercises which help to reduce the physical symptoms of anxiety which can be so unpleasant.
My approach as a therapist is flexible depending on what you would like from therapy. I tend to work in an integrative way which means that I incorporate different models of therapy to suit the difficulty you bring to therapy and what type of approach you are looking for. I am experienced in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person Centred Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. I am also trained in using CBT-E which has been found to be particularly helpful for people with eating problems.
I have 16 years experience as a therapist which I now bring to my vibrant private practice. My work has involved varying posts within the NHS and in Staff & Student Counselling at two Universities.
Areas of interest
I have specialist experience in working with people who have difficulties with their eating, weight or body image and low self esteem; I am experienced in working with trauma, bereavements, losses, depression and anxiety.
