About me

I am a full time NHS Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. I lead the TMJ (temporomandibular joint) Service for the East of England and have set up the Regional TMJ Service for East of England at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. I currently chair the East of England NHS Commissioning Steering Group.

I am also Lead for the Facial Deformity MDT and Deputy Chair of the Skin Cancer MDT at Bedford Hospital.

I was appointed as a consultant in 2015 after completing a Royal College of Surgeons of England fellowship in Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery. I was awarded the Gold Medal in the FRCS(OMFS) examination and ranked number one in the UK at application to higher surgical training. I am a faculty member on national and international courses in the specialty and have an interest in teaching trainees. I am a reviewer for 3 UK based peer reviewed surgical journals and am actively involved in ongoing clinical research and audit.

I am a leader in patient safety within the NHS trusts in which I work and am the Trust Lead for Clinical Human Factors in Bedford Hospital. I am a Human Factors Trainer with Being Human in Healthcare and an ambassador for the Clinical Human Factors Group. I work with hospitals and teams to improve patient safety. I am on the PSIRF (Patient Safety Incidence Response Framework) implementation committee for my NHS trust as a human factors advisor.

Areas of interest
