About me

Dr Richards is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who provides treatment for adults and older adolescents with a wide range of psychological difficulties. She has training and experience in working with complex difficulties, people who are experiencing multiple difficulties at once or those whose who difficulties have been unresponsive to previous therapies.

Dr Richards has worked in a number of NHS boards over the years with extensive experience in Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) and specialist eating disorders services. She has also enjoyed working in Glasgow Royal Infirmary's Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit.

In her clinical practice she draws on a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Schema Therapy. Therapy is individually tailored to each client and this can mean that a integrative approach is taken where aspects of several therapies are used to best meet the needs of the client. She also provides supervision to other psychologists and non-psychology colleagues in the delivery of psychological interventions.

Dr Richards is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) which is the governing body which all Clinical Psychologists in the UK must register with in order to practice. She also has 'Chartered' status with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is Associate Fellow of the BPS. Dr Richards has achieved a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a 1st class Honours Degree in Psychology.
