About me

Dr Simona Deplano is a renowned consultant haematologist at Imperial College NHS Trust.
She qualified with distinction in medicine in 2002. After she completed her training in haematology, she successfully pursued a PhD at Imperial College London.
Since then, she has been working as a Haematology consultant at Imperial College NHS Trust. She is based at Hammersmith Hospital, where she runs two general haematology clinics. She looks after patients with a variety of haematological conditions, including anaemia, leucocytosis, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, thrombocytosis, iron deficiency and hemochromatosis, elevated vitamin B12 and vitamin B12 deficiency.
She has also developed a dedicated service for older patients with haematological malignancies, such as myelodysplastic syndromes and acute myeloid leukemia.
Her research interests are anaemia, iron metabolism,bone marrow changes in older patients, effects of age on chemotherapy related toxicity and how to prevent it.
Her research work has been published in multiple peer review journals and presented in well recognised international conferences.
Above all, Dr Simona Deplano is a well-respected, kind and compassionate doctor who goes the extra mile for her patients, always providing clinical excellence and compassion.
