About me
I became an Osteopath because helping people is what I feel my life is about. I hate to see people feeling like they are a victim and there's nothing worse than pain for making you feel like that. Being an Osteopath combines my skills and things I best enjoy; helping people, problem-solving and giving people more control over their life.
I believe that the cause of someone's complaint is often a little deeper than it appears. I love nothing more than helping someone discover the root cause and then working towards not only overcoming the symptoms but also preventing re-occurrence, whilst helping people do the things they really want to be able to do without pain having a say in what that might be.
My philosophy is quite simple when it comes to being an Osteopath I am here to help guide you towards health. The human body has a fantastic capacity to heal and grow and it is by removing any barriers to this that a healthy happy life can be enjoyed.
Steven graduated from the British School of Osteopathy with a Master of Osteopathy degree. He enjoys helping a wide variety of patients and has studied at postgraduate level in helping chronic (ongoing) issues, amongst many other subjects and never stops learning.
I love helping a wide range of people but specialise in helping people with ongoing issues.
My focus is always on how to achieve the best results possible that last and put you in control and at the centre of your recovery. I'll always strive to make sure we build an understanding of why you are in pain, what needs to happen for it to improve and not come back and help you get there.
The real recovery happens between appointments and this is why a clear understanding of what is happening allows you to make progress without me! As much as I love helping people, I never want you to become a patient for life and appraise myself by the number of people I help leave my care as a life sentence to a therapist shouldn't be anyone's aim. I'll incorporate lifestyle and exercise education to avoid reoccurrence and when you leave you'll be an expert in all the things relevant to keeping yourself healthy and pain free.
I believe that life is about learning and no one should ever think they've learnt enough to stop. I spend hours every week improving my knowledge and ability to help people by reading, researching, attending conferences and making sure I'm never too far from what I see as the cutting edge of healthcare.
My focus is always on how can I distil what I learn into something actionable that the people I help, my patients, can understand and want to do, so they get the benefit. I believe in what I do, but am always open to improving and finding better ways, as there are too many people in pain and I want to make a dent in that!
I used to teach at Leeds Met University being head of year for osteopathic technique seeing this as the best way to help more people but left in 2015 to focus all my attention on building the best team of osteopaths I can, to help people in pain.
