Dr Bhashkar Mukherjee is a Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General (Internal) Medicine at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. His specialist interests include:Investigation and management of complex breathing disorders; Interstitial Lung Disease; Pulmonary Hypertension, Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET); Non-invasive Ventilation; Sleep Ventilation Medicine; Pleural diseases; Fibre-optic Flexible Bronchoscopy; Interventional Bronchoscopy; Tuberculosis; Airways diseases including Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease.

Dr Mukherjee’s clinical expertise involves the investigation and management of complex breathing disorders which often involve both respiratory and cardiovascular systems. He uses advanced diagnostic techniques including Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) and works as part of nationally accredited services for Pulmonary Hypertension and Interstitial Lung Disease. Other areas of expertise include Non-Invasive Ventilation, Sleep Ventilation disorders, Pleural Diseases, Airways diseases including Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease.

Dr Mukherjee performs a range of bronchoscopic and pleural procedures. He has extensive experience in the management of critically unwell patients as well as patients with common medical and respiratory conditions and those with chronic disease.

He completed medical and postgraduate studies at Cambridge University where he achieved his PHD in Functional Neuroimaging as part of the prestigious MB/PhD programme. Dr Mukherjee completed higher specialist medical and respiratory training at leading London centres for thoracic medicine including Royal Brompton Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College Hospital.
Dr Mukherjee’s current clinical and research interests encompass exercise physiology, Pulmonary Hypertension and Interstitial Lung Disease.
