About me
Mr Arshad Malik is one of few colorectal surgeons in the country with specialist qualifications in the sub-specialty of colorectal surgery and is possibly the most qualified surgeon in this specialty in country. He was the first surgeon in the UK to be awarded the Lars Pahlman award for outstanding performance in European Board Coloproctology examinations in UK and Europe. He trained in East Anglian higher surgical training scheme, rotating through Addenbrookes and Norwich Hospitals. He also underwent higher surgical training in India, where he topped in postgraduate examinations to enter the higher surgical training programme, and was awarded a merit scholarship.
Mr Malik has benefitted from advanced colorectal fellowships at internationally recognised colorectal centres at Basingstoke and Christie Hospital Manchester. He has highly specialised expertise in advanced keyhole-laparoscopic, open and colonoscopy skills. He trains higher surgical trainees including the provision of colonoscopy training. He is a clinical tutor at University of Edinburgh, teaching postgraduate surgeons in their specialist qualification programme in joint venture with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He also supervises postgraduate research for this programme leading to Masters in surgery qualifications.
Mr Malik was awarded Chief Residency by Health Education East of England whilst at Addenbrookes Hospital, which lead to the successful completion of a year’s Healthcare leadership programme at the famous Churchill College, University of Cambridge.
