About me

Born in Greenwich, London, Dr Gurminder Khamba trained at University College London Medical School, London. After gaining wide range general medical experience he achieved Membership and subsequent Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians. Dr Khamba completed Higher Specialist Training at the internationally renowned John Walls Unit at University of Leicester Hospitals in Renal Medicine and General Medicine.
Dr Khamba has worked at a national level with HSCIC and the Royal College of Physicians, looking at developing national standards for interoperability across healthcare systems. This formed the basis of Healthcare Record standards and the formation of the PRSB. He has developed this further by obtaining a Post Graduate Qualification in Health Informatics at the Farr Institute, University College London.

He has recently completed a Masters in Medical Leadership at Bayes Business School, City University, London.

Over the years Dr Khamba has developed extensive experience in the management of glomerular disease covering both initial management and long term immunosuppression strategies. He has expertise in chronic kidney disease management and has a specialist interest in hypertension and cardiovascular risk management in this population. He looks after Diabetic Kidney Disease and long term Chronic kidney disease patients.

In addition, Dr Khamba provides general medical expertise covering all aspects of general medicine.
Dr Khamba is a Consultant Nephrologist and Physician at Mid and South Essex Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust and he is also the Chief Clinical Informatics Officer at the Trust. Clinically he looks after inpatient Renal and General medical inpatients covering all aspects of inpatient care from acute kidney injury management through to initiation and maintenance of chronic kidney disease care and renal replacement therapy. He provides general kidney and medicine outpatient services with specialist clinics covering hypertension and Glomerulonephritis with the long term management of this group in an outpatient setting. Within Clinical informatics he has been involved with trust wide IT systems replacement and integration including the transition to nhs.net and the introduction of E Prescribing.
