About me

Hi, my name is Rachel.

I am an accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy working from my home practise based in Southbourne, West Sussex.
I work with young adults from 17 and adults of all ages.
I work from a Humanistic perspective where the uniqueness and respect of the individual is emphasised and the counsellor and client can work together, exploring present difficulties or past issues. I offer people the space to creatively explore their own potential and develop a deeper understanding of who they are, while encouraging growth and self awareness in a supportive environment. Whatever difficulties you may have, I believe that either time limited or long term counselling can be an opportunity to get to know yourself better and explore the potential for positive change in your life without judgement.

I have spent many years working for a weight management service providing psychological support for those struggling with weight issues, specialising in disordered eating and obesity. I have a keen interest in disordered eating issues and have a great deal of experience working in this area to help people better understand their relationship with food.
I worked at St Richards Hospital for eight years until 2022, where I assessed a patient's psychological suitability for bariatric surgery.

I am an accredited member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework. I undergo regular clinical supervision with a qualified and experienced supervisor and I am fully insured in line with BACP guidelines for best practice. I also have a full CRB check and am experienced in working with vulnerable groups of people.
