About me
I qualified in 2002 at Keele University, where I still work as a counsellor. I work in an integrative way to ensure that my client receives therapy that suits their needs. I take the view that no single approach is good for all clients. I have my roots in person centred theory, but draw from psychodynamic approach and also CBT when needed. I have also trained in Mindfulness and find this is particularly useful with clients suffering from anxiety. I believe that our inner conflicts are the result of early childhood experience, that has influenced the way that we make our choices, that might not be in our best interests. My belief is that we can change the influence of the past by looking closer at the knowledge that we already have, and are then able to work through the anger shame and guilt and move towards a better way of living.
Areas of interest
My particular interest is in relationship issues and clients with severe depression or loss of identity. However I am experienced in all aspects of counselling. I teach Mindfulness in University and find that this is useful for clients suffering from depression and anxiety
