About me
After qualifying as primary schoolteacher I moved into the NHS mental health service over 40 years ago, starting as a healthcare assistant, working and training my way up as a ward staff nurse in CAHMS, adult acute care, CPN charge nurse, clinical specialist in systemic & family therapy and becoming a principle adult psychotherapist in 2002.
I did a years psychotherapy consultancy to Humber NHS Trust Older Adult Trust in 2014/15.
My interest is to work primarily with the client/patient story - rather than a label or medical diagnosis - I see the eventual and long term outcomes being much better.
I am an experienced practitioner of the Open Dialogue Approach to mental health difficulties, helping introduce this to the UK from Scandinavia in the early 2000's
Areas of interest
Complex, recurring or difficult to resolve enduring/complex issues of anxiety, depression and other mental health presentations.
I also have extensive expertise and experience rehabilitating and mentoring people with stable bipolar and other psychosis presentations.
Solution-focused psychotherapy using the Open Dialogue Approach is the mainstay of my work.
I use this well-evidenced technique to listen and work with you - and if appropriate your family - to help you find your way forward.
I am a member of the International Open Dialogical Network;
