About me
I worked in the NHS for 20 years, in a range of services such as CAMHS, Deaf Services, Paediatrics, and Looked After Children. I am now a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Director on the Surrey Clinical Psychology Training Programme. I gained accreditation with the BABCP in 2023.
I undertake research and teach in the areas of neurodiversity, disability, children and young people, and professional issues such as risk management and clinical supervision. This helps me to keep updating my practice, and to keep learning. Alongside my NHS and education roles, I have worked in private practice since 2016, and work with children and families using a range of approaches including CBT, ACT, DBT, and compassion based approaches.
I am passionate about anti-oppressive practice and will always consider a range of aspects of difference and diversity in the work I do, particularly race, gender, sexuality and neurodiversity. I am committed to inclusion and practicing in a way which is affirming of the people I am working with, and building a positive and collaborative relationship with families, schools and systems around the young person. My Autism assessment reports are 'neuroaffirmative' and acknowledge the many strengths that Autistic young people present with as well as challenges coming from their areas of difference.
