Professional profile

Dr Kumar is passionate in providing a patient centered, cost effective, comprehensive and holistic cardiac assessment. He graduated and completed post-graduation in General Medicine in South Indian state of Tamil Nadu and migrated to United Kingdom for higher training in Cardiology during 1998. Over the past 24 years he is practicing cardiology. He works as consultant cardiologist at Luton and Dunstable Hospital since 2009

Apart from offering general cardiology services for most cardiac problems at secondary care, he has championed multiple service developments that include Heart failure service development in secondary and primary care and offer specialist heart failure clinics.

He is the lead for myocardial perfusion imaging a way of functional assessment towards revascularisation at Luton and Dunstable Hospital.

He is instrumental in commencing Cardiac CT service at Luton and Dunstable Hospital through joint working with Radiology and offer the service through both Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Spire Harpenden Hospital .

He is regularly involved in teaching and training junior doctors, nursing and other staff as well as keen to give lectures at Patient support group meetings.

He is a qualified advance life support instructor and has special non clinical interest in promotion of safeguarding vulnerable adults.

He has shown keen interest in multicentre researches as co-investigator, audits (clinical and non-clinical) guideline development and pathway writing.

Personal profile
Dr Kumar loves sports and plays cricket. He is a member of South Bedfordshire doctors’ cricket team and L&D Hospital Consultant team.

He believes in bringing people together through social gathering.

He serves as an Eucharistic Minister at his local church.

Investigations offered: Blood tests, ECG, Exercise treadmill, Echocardiography, tilt test, 24hrs ambulatory ECG and Blood pressure monitoring, cardiac event recorders; non-invasive Cardiac imaging of both anatomical (cardiac CT) and functional ( Myocardial Functional Imaging) Cardiac MRI.
