About me

Mr Arzoglou is a Consultant Neurosurgeon serving the NHS since 2012 but also practising privately at Spire Hull. His higher specialist training in complex spine was undertaken across the UK in highly respected neurosurgical and orthoapaedic departments, which makes him unique in being able to offer to his patients the best of these 2 specialities.
Mr Arzoglou has been the Clinical Area Lead for Neurosurgery for 6 years and he continues as the Clinical Area Lead for Spine services for the Hull University Teaching Hospitals, 7 years running. During his tenure he has introduced all anterior approaches to lumbar area as an established & safe technique for Hull University Teaching Hospitals and he is the senior surgeon when it comes to any complex anterior approach for the thoracic and lumbar spine. Mr Arzoglou has also worked for several years towards introducing to the patients in this area newer technologies like navigation-robotic assisted surgery & endoscopic surgery. Mr Arzoglou has chaired & participated in numerous Spinal Network & Quality Improvement meetings. For his continuous contributions to his patients Mr Arzoglou has received Clinical Excellence awards and has also been nominated for his innovation.
Mr Arzoglou's special interest is minimal invasive spinal surgery and he prides in having published a series of some of the smallest ever reported incisions, in the international literature, for an open lumbar interbody fusion. Mr Arzoglou has extensive experience in treating patients with complex spinal disorders, and welcomes patients from Hull, the East Riding, Scunthorpe, Grimsby and surrounding areas.
The procedures that he performs include, minimal invasive spinal surgery, cervical and lumbar disc surgery, artificial disc replacement for the cervical spine, kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty, spinal injections and all the anterior approaches to the thoracic & lumbar spine). Mr Arzoglou offers treatment for complex tumours of the spine including a highly specialised (Low Volume High Complexity) area of intramedullary tumours.

Mr Arzoglou has excellent academic and teaching background with multiple publications in international peer reviewed journals. He has introduced locally the highest recognised form of a specialist training program in the UK and he is the educational and clinical supervisor for the highly respected Royal College of Surgeons Complex Spine Fellowship program which attracts local and international trainees.
Mr Arzoglou has excellent feedback on various platforms, and has locally the best reported outcomes on the NHS Model Hospital (2022-2025)
