About me
Mr. Haq is a highly skilled Consultant Breast Surgeon with extensive expertise in all aspects of breast diseases. He has 30 years' experience as a breast & general surgeon. He did his basic surgical training in Nishar medical university. He then joined as post graduate registrar in Sheikh Zayed University Lahore Pakistan 1992. Sheikh Zayed post graduate centre was tertiary centre where he started his training as a breast trainee in 1992.After moving to United Kingdom in 1995 he pursed further training in Lancashire & Yorkshire.
He completed his training in West Yorkshire before relocating to Birmingham. He has also worked as a consultant breast surgeon & General surgeon in Merseyside. Mr. Haq is a member of the Association of Breast Surgeons. He is tutor and supervisor to trainee doctors. He is examiner for FCPS part 3 in the breast surgery for college of physician & surgeons in Pakistan.
He now concentrates exclusively in the breast surgery with a particular focus on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. He is affiliated with the University Hospital of Birmingham Foundation NHS Trust. He has served as a Clinical Service Lead and multidisciplinary chair in the breast unit. Now he is acting up as Director of Breast Screening.
His clinical practice includes the operation of a one-stop breast clinic, which is available on Tuesday evenings, Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoons at the hospital. In this clinic, Mr. Haq employs a triple assessment approach to comprehensively evaluate and diagnose breast problems in both women and men during a single visit.
His specialisation encompasses the management of all aspects of breast diseases, with a specific focus on breast cancer. His surgical expertise covers a wide range of breast cancer procedures, including mastectomy, breast conservation surgery (lumpectomy), axillary staging for breast cancer using sentinel biopsy techniques, axillary clearance, microdochectomy, subareolar duct excision for nipple discharge, breast infection. nipple surgery, removal of implants, management, eversion of retracted nipples, removal of benign breast lumps, removal of armpit lump and reshaping mammoplasty following breast cancer removal. He also provides consultation and advice to patient with family history of breast cancer.
To continually enhance his knowledge and stay updated with the latest advancements, Mr. Haq actively participates in national and international conferences and recommended courses. He also engages in research projects as a Principal Investigator within his unit, contributing to the advancement of breast surgery and cancer care. He has served as principal investigator for many national and international trials such as IBIS2, Age Gap study, POSNAC, and LORIS.
He is multilingual - fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi.
