About me
Mr Azhar Khan is a Consultant Urological and Robotic Surgeon with a specialist interest in kidney cancer, robotic kidney cancer surgery, kidney stone disease and benign prostatic enlargement (BPH). He is a Consultant at King's College Hospital and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, where he has worked since 2014.
Mr Khan has particular expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of kidney cancer, including complex renal tumours and robotic partial nephrectomy. He is one of the highest-volume robotic kidney cancer surgeons in the UK, performing more than 100 robotic kidney cancer procedures each year.
He also has extensive expertise in the management of kidney and ureteric stones, including complex and recurrent stone disease. His surgical experience includes flexible and rigid ureteroscopy, laser treatment of stones and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL).
For men with BPH (benign prostatic enlargement), Mr Khan offers assessment and surgical treatment, including laser prostatectomy and transurethral procedures. He also assesses and treats haematuria and a broad range of conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder, prostate and male urinary system.
His practice includes minimally invasive and robotic surgery, with additional expertise in laparoscopic procedures, including selected procedures for varicocele and removal of varicocele coils.
Mr Khan sees private patients at London Bridge Hospital, The Blackheath Hospital and The Guthrie Wing (King's Private). He provides specialist assessment and treatment for patients with suspected or confirmed kidney cancer, kidney stones, haematuria, BPH and other general urological conditions.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Khan is actively involved in urological research and has published peer-reviewed research relating to kidney cancer, stone disease and prostate conditions. He completed an MD at the University of Bristol following clinical research at the Bristol Urological Institute. He regularly contributes to national and international urological meetings and is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the European Association of Urology
