About me

Graduated from the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka 1995 with MBBS honours. Completed MD in medicine which is a prerequisite to become a physician in Sri Lanka in 2002. Completed MRCP in 2003. Proceeded to higher specialist training in Diabetes & Endocrinology in North London rotation (Royal Free and University College London hospitals). Was granted dual accreditation in diabetes, endocrinology, and general medicine in 2009. In 2019, became a fellow of the Royal college of physicians (FRCP), London. Currently a Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine at Broomfield Hospital, Mid & South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. The lead consultant for the young adult diabetes service.

Areas of interest

Extensive experience in general endocrinology including thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, gonadal, neuro-endocrine and calcium disorders, with peri- and post-operative management. Significant experience in the long-term management of Type 1, Type 2 and other forms of diabetes. Other interests include antenatal diabetes, diabetic renal disease, weight loss & GLP1 analogues, continuous/flash glucose monitoring, and Type 1 diabetes education.
