About me

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist, with 16 years’ experience as a counsellor. Seven years qualified as a Couple’s Counsellor and ten years as a registered Adoption Counsellor working with Barnardos. I have been Clinical Supervisor for 10 years providing supervision for trainee/qualified counsellors.

I have worked for a number of agencies including Barking and Dagenham Bereavement Service. Seasons Bereavement Service, where I counselled clients experiencing complicated grief, due to trauma for example, road accident/death/miscarriage. Crossroads Care working with Carers and those suffering early onset dementia. Cruse Bereavement Service in homicide. The Young Peoples Counselling Service (13 to 25 years). I am a Government registered Adoption Counsellor working with Barnardo's LINK adoption support service, providing Early Placement therapeutic counselling, Attachment Focused counselling for families with children of all ages. Therapeutic Counselling for birth family members. Counselling for individuals who have been adopted and feel a need to explore their thoughts and feelings. Reconnect Therapy for adopted individuals wishing to reconnect with birth family members. Additionally adopters needing to explore their thoughts, feelings, and life situations. Working with PTSD/Complicated PTSD, working with dreams and nightmares. Working with employment assisted programmes for work/personal issues and working with retired veterans, those serving in the armed forces and their families. I have experience of working with clients diagnosed with Autism and their family/carers. I have a private practice in Hornchurch and Collier Row Romford.

I see patients with a variety of issues including; feeling unable to cope, undergoing major changes; work related issues; pregnancy; health related; infertility; bereavement and loss; those touched by adoption; depression; anxiety; stress; Trauma/post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); self-esteem and/or identity issues; Autism; Mental, physical, emotional and sexual abuse; Feeling your responsibilities are almost too great to bear, or just not knowing what is making you feel the way you are feeling. I also see couples for couples counselling.

My initial BA (Hons) training was in Person Centred Counselling but over the years I have incorporated other theoretical models into my work including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Attachment Focused Therapy. Systemic Experiential and Embodied re-processing, working with dreams and nightmares. I have experience of and can provide short term and long term therapy
