About me
With over 35 years in dermatology & dermatopathology, at the highest level both nationally and internationally, I am UK born, educated and medically trained and an expert , remaining the only UK Chair in Dermatopathology. I have extensive clinical experience and a significant tertiary referral practice in both dermatology and dermatopathology. I graduated from Guy's Hospital Medical School KCL in 1980 where I obtained an additional medical science Ist Class BSc in Immunopathology with Honours. Trained at Guyt's, St Thomas' and St John's Institute of Skin Diseases completing training in dermatopathology in USA to become a Consultant Dermatologist and Clinical Director at the Royal London Hospital in 1990.
I lecture extensively at all levels. Currently, I am MBBS, DipClinDerm and DipRCPath, ICDPath, MD PhD and MSc external examiner for University of London. I have contributed to the undergraduate MBBS and our established Diploma in Clinical Dermatology for QMUL. I remain an intercalated BSc in pathology tutor and supervised research projects including MD thesis & PhDs. I have secured more than £1m of research funding & published over 195 peer reviewed publications. In 2008 until reorganisation with the creation of Bart’s Health, I was appointed as the Clinical Academic Unit Director for Cutaneous Medicine & Surgery (CMS) responsible for a budget of £5 million. My knowledge & experience shows I am an effective clinical manager at implementing continuing change resulting in cost effective higher quality of patient care.
I sit on local, national and international committees of learned and professional societies and journals. In 2010 I was elected President of the Section of Dermatology at The Royal Society of Medicine. Until recently, I was on the executive committee as past president.

Skin tumours / skin cancer/ oncology;
Psoriasis; skin allergies, eczema & auto immune dermatoses.
I have a broad range of dermatology interests enhanced by considerable experience in various medical leadership roles. I am known for providing a holistic, sympathetic and honest assessment of your skin issues.
