About me

Mr Parham Azarbod is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital with specialist expertise in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma and cataract.

His clinical practice includes the full spectrum of glaucoma care, including medical treatment, laser procedures (SLT, Iridotomy,Cyclodiode) and surgical management. He performs minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), trabeculectomy and aqueous shunt procedures, and has extensive experience in combining MIGS glaucoma surgery with cataract surgery where appropriate. He also performs small-incision cataract surgery, including complex cases.

He trained at University College London, where he also completed a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience with First Class Honours. He completed specialist ophthalmology training on the North Thames Ophthalmology Rotation, including Moorfields Eye Hospital. He subsequently undertook a research fellowship the Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) working under the supervision of Professor Joseph Caprioli and clinical fellowship training in glaucoma at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

In addition to his clinical work, he has held a number of senior roles within the Moorfields glaucoma service, including Glaucoma Service Training Director, has also served as Educational Supervisor for ophthalmology trainees and as Lead for the Glaucoma Service within the Moorfields South division.

Mr Azarbod has authored peer-reviewed publications and is co-editor of the textbook Key Clinical Topics in Ophthalmology. He regularly lectures on postgraduate MSc programmes at University College London.

He provides specialist assessment and treatment for patients with glaucoma, glaucoma suspects and cataract, and receives referrals from ophthalmologists and community optometrists for patients requiring expert glaucoma management.
