About me
Mr Alam graduated from Pakistan but was trained mainly in Wales, however spent his early years of surgical training in the Republic of Ireland.
He worked in upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery and did clinical research on the surgical treatment of morbid obesity, its impact on associated co-morbidities successfully defended his thesis for MD.
He spent the last years of training in a Pancreatobiliary Unit and gained experience in management of benign and malignant pancreatobiliary diseases in particular gallstones and pancreatitis.
He is interested in all aspects of upper gastro-intestinal disease and also laparascopic (key hole) and open management of abdominal wall hernias.
Mr Alam enjoys teaching and surgical training and is active in both local and regional education training activities. He has been a faculty member for BCS CCRISP and Upper GI endoscopy courses.
