About me

I gained both a Degree in Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University College, London.

Following a 14-year career in the NHS as a Clinical Psychologist (7 years at 8C Consultant grade), I have been working in private practice for a further 6.5 years as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. I predominantly treat clients in the Law & Finance sectors. I have a private practice next to Staple Inn, seconds from Chancery Lane station. I see male and female clients who are Associates & Partners in law firms such as Freshfields, Pinsent Masons and Skadden. I also see Senior Executives in Finance from BofA, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan, HSBC, Bank of England, EY, EBRD, Deloitte, Barings, S&P Global and the FCA, as well as those not wishing to name their organisation.

A long history of working with offenders in the NHS and the prison system with high-profile cases - including those who have made threats to members of the Royal Family and Parliamentarians, has afforded me an understanding of the level of confidentiality and security required to handle highly sensitive clinical information.

I take seriously the need for clinical supervision to maintain the delivery of a high-quality psychological intervention. Regarding supervision, although the BPS standard for highly qualified staff is monthly supervision, I make sure I receive weekly 50-minute supervision.

Added to a high-quality service provision is my capacity to refer to a consultant psychiatrist on Harley Street, should it become apparent that a client's presenting problems require medication to support psychological intervention. On rare occasions, a short admission to a private hospital has been necessary to manage actively suicidal, manic or psychotic patients.

Areas of interest

The treatment model is 1:1 therapy, short and long-term, using CBT. For short-term treatment focusing on 'psychological first aid', resilience building and stress management, I use CBT. For longer-term therapy treating more complex presenting psychological problems, I use psychodynamically-informed CBT. The latter is extremely helpful in developing formulations for those who find themselves less responsive to traditional CBT approaches. In essence, I tailor the treatment model to the presenting needs of the client. I also have a long experience implementing treatment online, typically for Partners & Senior Executives who travel often.

Presenting problems: anxiety, depression, stress management, OCD, addictions (drugs, sex, alcohol, food), trauma and attachment difficulties (often played out in the work context and at home). I also provide psychological therapy to those with Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder Types I and Type II and those with suicidal ideation.
