About me

I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon in 2014. I have an elective and emergency practice sub-specialising in computer navigated hip and knee surgery. My particular interests include all types of hip and knee replacements, knee arthroscopy, revision hip surgery, general trauma. I am one of only a handful of surgeons in the UK to use cutting edge computer navigation for my joint replacements to achieve surgical excellence.

I did my basic medical training at University College Hospital, London (1993-1999). I undertook 3 years of research at University College Hospital, London. I undertook higher surgical training as a specialist registrar in Trauma & Orthopaedics in the North West Thames rotation, London. This included working in St Marys Hospital, Charring Cross Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. I have been fortunate enough to be trained by 5 professors in lower limb arthroplasty.

I strive for surgical excellence and base my management of orthopaedic conditions on the best scientific evidence available, together with state of the art equipment and techniques. I am also the educational lead for the trauma and orthopaedic department.
•I am the only surgeon in the region who navigates (computer navigation) total hip, total knee and unicompartmental knee replacements.
•I am only one of a handful of surgeons in the country who navigates their hip replacements
•I run a specialist metal on metal hip review clinic
•Offer latest treatment for avascular necrosis of the hip – hip decompression and BMP infiltration

Fellowship
I was selected to undertake 2 sought after fellowships.
•My first advanced surgical fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty surgery was with world leading surgeons at The Mater Clinic, Sydney, Australia (2012).
•My second advanced surgical fellowship was in trauma surgery at St Marys Hospital, London (2013). This is a Major Trauma Centre where we treated the most complex, severely injured patients.

Research & Publications
I actively participate in research and am extensively published in national and international peer reviewed journals and also extensively presented (oral and poster) to learned Orthopaedic societies. I also have several book chapters published on trauma and elective hip surgery in major orthopaedic textbooks. I have presented research globally, winning prizes for my work and I have been invited to lecture as guest speaker at the Royal College of Surgeons. I am heavily involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
