About me
I am a consultant Upper gastrointestinal and general surgeon at Croydon University Hospital, Shirley Oaks, Blackheath and London Bridge Hospitals, consulting at the Shard and Old Broad Street in the City of London.
I have clinical interests in complex abdominal wall hernia repair, including open and laparoscopic incisional hernia repair and have a dedicated interest in complicated hernias and hernias considered the most challenging. I lead the Croydon and South London Regional Complex hernia Multidisciplinary team, receiving referrals from the South East for advanced management.
I also perform laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for gallstones and groin hernias of all types. I have a longstanding interest in emergency surgery for gallstones. Additionally I remove lumps and bumps, skin cysts and infected toenails as required.
I also perform acid reflux surgery and fundoplication having developed this service in the NHS to establish our unit as the busiest in South London. I am an accredited and skilled upper GI endoscopist.
Originally from West Wales, I undertook my medical training at Imperial College School of Medicine. I worked as a house officer in Central London and undertook Senior house officer surgical training in Guildford, Surrey. In 2007 I was appointed to the South West Thames surgical registrar training region and specialised in Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgery. This included three years at the renowned St Georges Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Centre in South West London.
In my spare time I am a keen golfer with a single figure handicap and enjoy cycling and walking the North Downs Way.
