About me
Dr Tom Crake is a Consultant Cardiologist at Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew's Hospital, University College London Hospital and North Middlesex University Hospital.
He trained in all aspects of general cardiology (chest pain, angina, heart attacks, hypertension, palpitations, valve disease, shortness of breath, heart failure, cholesterol management, cardiovascular risk assessment) with particular interest in interventional cardiology at the National Heart Hospital, The Cardiothoracic Institute, St Mary’s Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital, all in London.
At The Heart Hospital he led the Interventional Team and with colleagues developed the Heart Attack Centre. Recently he has with colleagues developed special interest in cardio-oncology - the care of cancer patients with heart problems
He has a particular interest in medical education and training of new doctors and cardiologists. He has been Programme Training Director for North East and North Central London London Training Programme in Cardiology for over 10 years leading the training of over 40 young cardiologist in one of the highest ranked training programmes in the UK. He is a also a Council Member of the Cardiology Division of The Royal Society of Medicine.
His research interests centre around coronary artery disease, coronary blood flow and the management of patients with heart attack and chest pain. He continues to publish regularly and has published over 100 scientific papers.
