About me
Mr Enyi Ofo is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon specialising in Head & Neck, Thyroid, Parathyroid and Robotic Surgery. He has over 11 years' experience as a consultant and practises within both the NHS at St George's University Hospitals and Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts, as well as in independent practice across London.
He treats adult and paediatric ENT conditions, with particular expertise in thyroid and parathyroid disease, salivary gland disorders, head and neck lumps, voice and swallowing disorders, and minimally invasive and robotic surgery. Mr Ofo performs more than 100 thyroid and parathyroid operations each year, and is recognised nationally for developing innovative surgical techniques that improve patient outcomes while reducing the impact of surgery.
Mr Ofo is the UK's most experienced 'Scarless' Transoral Robotic Thyroidectomy and Parathyroidectomy Vestibular Approach (TORTVA and TORPVA) surgeon, and was the first surgeon in the United Kingdom to develop and perform this scarless robotic thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy technique. He has established one of the country's leading transoral robotic thyroid surgery programmes, and now teaches and mentors surgeons from the UK and overseas, supporting other hospitals in developing their own transoral robotic thyroid surgery services.
He also pioneered the UK's first ENT-led outpatient thermal ablation service for benign thyroid nodules at Kingston Hospital. This innovative minimally invasive treatment provides selected patients with an effective alternative to thyroid surgery, avoiding a neck scar and enabling a rapid recovery.
In addition, Mr Ofo has been at the forefront of developing Head & Neck surgeon-performed point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). By integrating ultrasound directly into specialist outpatient clinics, he has helped improve the diagnosis of thyroid disease and neck lumps, streamlining the head and neck cancer pathway, and reducing delays to treatment.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Ofo has held several senior leadership roles. He served as Chair of the Head & Neck and Thyroid Cancer Pathway Group for the Royal Marsden Partners Cancer Alliance (2024 to 2026), leading service improvement across South and North West London. He is also Clinical Lead for ENT and Clinical Lead for Robotic Assisted Surgery at Kingston Hospital, where he has led the successful expansion of the Trust's robotic surgery programme.
Mr Ofo graduated in Medicine from University College London in 2000 after completing an intercalated BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience, winning several undergraduate and postgraduate prizes. He completed higher surgical training in London, including Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital, before undertaking a PhD at King's College London supported by over �350,000 of competitive research funding.
He subsequently completed advanced Head & Neck Surgery Fellowships at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital and the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia, where he became one of the first UK surgeons to undertake a dedicated 12-month robotic head and neck surgery fellowship. On returning to the UK, he led the team that performed St George's Hospital's first robotic head and neck cancer operation in 2015.
Mr Ofo remains actively involved in research, education and innovation, and is regularly invited to teach on advanced thyroid, robotic and head and neck surgery and ultrasound nationally and internationally. He is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centred care using the latest surgical and minimally invasive techniques.
