About me

Dr Pakravan is a Consultant Physician in Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine, an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Medicine at William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London, and a Visiting Senior Fellow in Sports Medicine at University of Suffolk.

He is the Chief Medical Officer of Super League Basketball, British professional Basketball League (formerly BBL / WBBL), and a Consulting Club Doctor to BC London Lions. He was part of the team that for the first time in British Basketball history won the EuroCup trophy.

Dr Pakravan is the Vice Chair of the European College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (ECOSEP), having previously served the College as the Vice General Secretary for a number of years . He represents ECOSEP in the World Health Organisation's European network for Health Enhancing Physical Activity (HEPA Europe).

Dr Pakravan has worked with some of the most famous names in professional sports and his extensive past experience of working with elite athletes and in professional sports includes more than 17 years in professional Football including 11 years in English Premier League, Itinerant Doctor for England teams with Football Association, National Basketball Association (NBA) in London and Paris, England and GB Hockey, GB Tae kwondo Grand Prix and World Championship, GB Badminton at the English Institute for Sport, Classifier for Para Athletics, and various other sports and major events such as London Marathons and Triathlons.

Dr Pakravan was a Team Leader for the field of play medical teams at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games looking after athletes across a number of sports.

Dr Pakravan is an International speaker on various Sports, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine topics and has delivered talks and keynotes across the world including at iconic venues such as Camp Nou (FC Barcelona), Parc des Princes (Paris Saint Germain FC), and C�vitas Metropolitano (Atletico de Madrid FC) Stadiums amongst others.

He has a number of publications in reputable medical journals and has written book chapters on sports medicine subjects.

Dr Pakravan was a guest in episode 2 of Dr Michael Mosley's BBC Radio 4 programme on Cold Therapy, as part of his flagship "Just One Thing" series.

Dr Pakravan's qualifications including in Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography, and wealth of experience at highest levels of elite sports as well as general musculoskeletal and orthopaedic medicine enables him to offer his patients a tailormade personalised management plan to ensure not only accurate diagnosis and optimum pain management but also long term functional benefits.
