About me
I have been a Consultant Plastic Surgeon since 1992. I am President of the Federation of Surgical Speciality Associations of UK and Ireland, Past President of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and Past President and current member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).
I have a busy private practice with both national and international patients. I was trained in medicine at Bristol University Medical School and I was awarded my medical degree in 1980 (MB ChB). My basic surgical training was in Bristol and I passed my Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1984. I then started my training in Plastic Surgery during which I worked in Bristol, Glasgow and in London, at Mount Vernon Hospital, a famous Plastic Surgery Hospital on the north west of London, and at Charing Cross Hospital. At the end of my training I spent time as a visiting fellow in at the Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto, Canada and I visited Plastic Surgery Units in Miami, Detroit and New York.
I completed a Master's degree in Plastic Surgery (ChM) in 1993, and I was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 1997 (FRCPCH). I am an examiner in the Intercollegiate Board Exam in Plastic Surgery, an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor through which I have been one of the medical officers to the British Grand Prix and I am qualified as a paediatric life support provider. I am also a Senior Lecturer in Surgery in University of Bristol and a University Tutor.
I am a member of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and of the American Cleft Lip and Palate Association. . I run general plastic surgery clinics in Bristol and Bath which provide a heavy skin cancer workload.
