About me
Relationships in our past influence our present, break the cycle, understand yourself and decide to change. Seeking support can seem like a failure or weakness, but rest assured it is the most courageous thing a person can do.
I have an MSc Psychodynamic Counselling and MSc Health Psychology and have worked as a Psychotherapist for the last fifteen years in private practice, and have 20 years of Welfare experience in corporate, charitable, higher education and NHS settings. In each role I have been involved in the care and psychological wellbeing of children and adults.
I hold a qualification in Clinical Supervision and am a Registered Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a BACP member I abide by their ethical framework.
I work with clients to explore emotional challenges. I have experience of working with the following:
Abuse, Addictions, Anger Management, Bereavement, Childhood issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Identity issues, Low self-esteem/confidence, Relationship issues, Sexuality and sexual issues, Stress, Health problems, work related issues, as well as others.
I offer open ended psychotherapy and short term counselling, dependant on your needs. What I recommend is an initial consultation where we meet and explore if we can work together. I assess your needs and give you feedback, based on this we decide together what would be most beneficial for your wellbeing. I offer one to one counselling for individuals and couples.
Once counselling/psychotherapy has begun we meet weekly and explore what you bring, I use interpretation and analysis to explore what may be underlying and make links between your feelings, behaviours both historic and present. After this you may wish to make changes to your relationships or self, but you will begin to assess your life in different ways. Your perceptions may change or you may become more self-assured, whatever the result, I aim to connect your unconscious behaviour to your conscious mind and help you develop the skills to do this without me.
When we end, you will be more able to support yourself, and also seek the correct support from others should you need to.
